Here's What We Carry

Heaters

Keep your pool warm with our heaters. We carry heaters from:

Pool Heaters

In our area of the country, most pools need a heater on them. Normally, without a heater, our swimming season only lasts about 14 weeks. With the addition of a pool heater, whether it is gas, oil or solar, you can extend your summer fun 4-6 weeks. That’s a 35% extension of your swimming season!!!

The pool heater shown is from Pentair. We use this heater because of its features and efficiency. There is no open flame, pilot, insulation or exposed heat exchanger on this unit. Everything is sealed in a stainless-steel tank. It features a power vent for increased efficiency and is great for enclosed or high wind areas.

How is that different from other pool heaters? Other heaters have the burner tray, pilot igniter, insulation, and heat exchanger exposed. This is an open invitation for spiders to spin their cocoons in the gas orifices of the pilot and burners, and for mice and squirrels to build their nests on and in the burner assembly and on the heat exchangers. Every year we see extreme damage from rodents. Their liquid waste corrodes the copper exchanger and the metal cabinets, the nests occlude the heat exchanger causing carbon build up (destroying the heater over time), not to mention the damage to the heat insulation that is used for the bedding!

Solar Heating

Swimming pool solar heating is gaining momentum in this area also. Who can argue about free anything? Of course, nothing is free, but after the initial installation, there are no reoccurring costs, just free heat!!

Pumps

The heart of your filtration system. We carry pumps from:

Pool Pumps

We carry most manufacturer’s swimming pool pumps. The pump is the heart of the pool filtration system. Important features to consider for a new pump are energy efficiency, noise, size, compatibility and durability.

There are different styles of pumps. Your application will determine the size and type of pump. Chances are you have a single speed pump, due to new technology and regulations on power consumption, replacements need to be Variable speed pumps (VSP) style. VSP save up to 90% in energy costs and are subject to energy rebates of $350 When installed and registered by a 5-STAR installer, AKA yours truly.

Although they cost more initially, the payback in energy savings is most times within one season.

Filters

A good filter helps keep your pool clean. We carry filters from:

Pool Filters

There are 3 main types of swimming pool filters: Sand, Cartridge, and Diatomaceous Earth (D.E.).

Many filters installed in the 90s and 2000s were much too small for the size of pool they filter, and with the age, are just barely operating. Many times, due to oversized pumps. Many are difficult to service and do not backwash effectively. Newer filters that have not had regular service will not perform any better than an outdated or undersized filter, and can even cause bigger problems. Regular maintenance and proper pump size are the most important factors in continued performance and reliability.

Sand Filters

The sand in a sand pool filter is specially graded to trap dirt particles. As a sand filter collects dirt its efficiency increases trapping even more dirt. When your pressure gauge shows a reading 8-10 lbs. over its clean, start-up reading, it is time to backwash (forcing water to flow through the filter backwards) the captured dirt out of the filter.

If your filter requires frequent backwashing (it should be able to operate continuously for a period of 4 weeks between backwashing), the sand may have deteriorated. A properly sized sand filter can go 5-7 years between sand changes. High amounts of oils from swimmers can gum up a sand bed over time. Years of a pump forcing water over the grains wear away the sharp edges of the sand. Worn sand becomes circular, and traps dirt less efficiently.

Cartridge Filters

A clean cartridge pool filter element traps dirt and particles of 5 to 8 microns in size. During routine maintenance, the cartridge must be removed from the tank and washed thoroughly, top to bottom. The cartridge should be replaced every 5 to 7 years, depending on the work it was asked to do. Correctly sized cartridge filters can operate for 6 months between cleanings. The use of an enzyme additive is highly recommended for cartridge filters. This keeps the cartridge clean and free from oil build up.

It is not uncommon for our customers to go the whole season without cleaning it. A down side of a cartridge filter is that if you vacuum slime or heavy dirt through it, then it will need to be cleaned. There is no backwash feature; however, we do put in a bypass valve that would allow you to vacuum to waste without affecting the filter. No back washing = saving water, salt, chemicals and less work!

D.E. Filters

The DE pool filter is the most efficient type of pool filter. It can trap particles smaller than what the naked eye can see (4 to 5microns). As with sand filters, the pressure gauge indicates a need for backwashing when it reads 8-10 lbs. higher than its “clean” reading. After backwashing a DE filter, a new application of DE filter powder is added to the filter by pouring directly into the skimmer. A semi-annual breakdown of the filter is necessary to thoroughly clean DE filter grids.

A DE filter requires a coating of DE powder on the filter grids. This is where the dirt gets trapped in your filter. The powder, when first added, dissolves in the pipe on its way to the filter tank. When it reaches the grids, the powder stops coating the grid. The water passes on through the powder, then the fabric covered grid, leaving the dirt trapped in the DE powder coating. The use of an enzyme additive is recommended for D E filters. This keeps the grids clean and free from oil build up.

Improperly serviced DE filters may have pressure rise very quickly, and if left without proper DE coating, the grids will become damaged. A properly sized and quality DE Filter should be able to operate continuously for a period of 4 weeks between backwashing.

The DE filter shown is a Quad DE from Pentair. It is fairly new and we have had great success with its performance and again we have chosen it because of its outstanding features. For high dirt areas and for people that like to suck up everything in the vacuum… this is a good choice. The DE grids are a made from a very tight, slick material that allows the DE to slump off when the system is turned off. When started, the DE essentially reorganizes and leaves the dirt in the bottom of the tank, significantly extending the intervals of backwashing. Occasional backwashing = less loss of water, salt and chemicals. The majority of these filters we have in service run the entire season without customer intervention!

Chlorine Generators

A more sustainable cleaning process. We carry generators from:

Chlorine Generators

“Going Green” is no longer a trend it is now part of our culture and our children’s way of thinking. Because of this, swimming pool owners are changing the way of chlorinating their pool water with an environmentally friendly method.

Salt Chlorine Generators comes with: a Power supply, Chlorine Production Cell Assembly. When the salted water passes through the cell, it is converted to chlorine. After sanitizing the pool water, it turns back to salt, and the process is repeated and sustainable. The best part is that the salt is maintained at a much lower level than even contact lens solution, leaving no “salty” taste to the water.
Your chlorine generator does one thing, generate chlorine. However, the purity of this chlorine has less
effect on the overall water chemistry than other forms of chlorine. As long as you keep your water balanced to the Saturation Index, your need for chemicals will be kept to a minimum, which reduces the costs of maintenance of your pool. Here is a guide of the recommended water balance:
We recommend periodic (weekly or bi-weekly) testing of stabilizer levels (60 – 80 ppm), Free Chlorine (2 – 4 ppm for pools and 3 – 6 ppm for spas), pH (7.2 – 7.6), and salt levels (2,500 – 3,500 ppm). Since we do not affect the Total Alkalinity or Calcium Hardness, a monthly check is sufficient.

Pool Liners

High-quality vinyl liners for your pool. We carry liners from:

Safety Covers

Our custom covers provide a safe barrier. We carry covers from:

Safety Covers

Safety covers are an important part of keeping your pool clean and secure. Having a water bag style cover with children or pets in the family, is a dangerous combination. A child or pet can easily become enveloped in that style cover. Aside from the safety aspect of it, come spring time, tarp style covers are full of dirt, water and debris.

AquaDucks are experienced in designing, measuring and installing custom safety covers, you can be assured of a perfect fit and a professional installation. These covers are not sitting on a warehouse shelf somewhere hoping for a new home. . Every cover is measured and MADE specifically for your pool. You can rest easy, knowing that your pool will be secure and provide a safe barrier for your children and pets, unlike an old tarp and water bag type cover.

Not all safety covers are created equal…beware of shopping for price only, especially on the internet, it can wind up costing you more in shipping, installation, maintenance, heart ache, and replacement in a few years.

Types of Covers

A mesh cover is easy to put on and take off. It is lighter, self-drying and debris tends to blow off of it. It remains tightly stretched across the pool. Because it is MESH it lets the sunlight through. If you open later in the season, your water may start to turn green, unless you treat the water at first thaw with an algaecide.
A solid cover is heavy and more difficult to put on and take off, and needs to be dried for storage. It requires a cover pump or drain panel. Because of the weight, it can easily be damaged if dragged across the deck.

The SmartMesh is exclusive to our supply company. The tight weave of the SmartMesh material filters nearly the same as a sand filter. It has all the benefits of the mesh covers, plus it blocks 100% of the sunlight giving you the advantages of a solid cover. You will open with clear water, saving you time and money on chemicals. This cover by far is our most popular selection.

Safety covers are installed by drilling brass fittings into the pool deck that hold the cover in place during the winter, and then retract into the deck during the pool season.
